We are pleased to announce that the Kennedy-King Memorial Initiative (KKMI) has been selected for the IHCDA CrowdGranting Program – CreatINg Places, which rewards KKMI with matching funds of $50,000 fundraised.
Partnering with organizations like King Park, the City of Indianapolis, Indy Parks, and the Indiana Historical Society, KKMI launched their fundraising efforts to meet the $50,000 goal on 11/15/2017. In just over a month, they exceeded their goal and reached $61,000 through the generous donations of partners and residents. King Park matched $10,000 in community donations.
The funds will go toward their efforts towards making further improvements to King Park, including two new works for public art that build on the impact of the “Landmark for Peace.” These pieces will help illustrate the impact of April 4, 1968 and the continued need in this nation for people.
