As part of the Intentional Community Conversation series, Intend speaks with partners, borrowers, and homebuyers about our work to create opportunities for people through impactful programs and helpful resources.
In this interview, our Associate Director of Real Estate Development, Mia Gutiérrez, speaks with Jenny and Joham, our recent homebuyers. As immigrants, they had tried to own a home for many years without any success. While all the filled-out folders and applications that never led anywhere were discouraging, they decided to reach out to Intend to try one more time.
Jenny and Joham were worried about potentially not having all the required documents and needed help ensuring they had all the needed paperwork. Intend Indiana helped them acquire all the documents needed, making the process as stress-free as possible.
“As Latinos, we truly want to invite everyone to take advantage of these opportunities. When we received the keys to our home, we said, “We did it! We did it!” We are people who come to this country with a single goal, and I believe there are thousands of immigrants here in the U.S. who sometimes hold themselves back. Don’t hold back—embrace the opportunities. There are no challenges we can’t overcome, no obstacles we can’t remove. I believe that if we do things from the heart, we can achieve anything.” — Joham
